Counterbores

During our engine block services, we can address blocks with wet liners by recutting the upper and lower counterbores or installing inserts to repair any damaged areas as needed. Additionally, our cylinder block inspection process includes recutting block decks for liner shims.

Honing

We enhance cylinder block inspection and optimization through a two-step honing process, utilizing rough diamond 'stones' followed by fine diamond 'stones'. This method allows us to achieve a plateau hone on cylinder walls. With the advanced Sunnen CK21 honing machine, we deliver perfectly straight and round cylinders, eliminating any barreled or flared imperfections. To maintain quality, we also perform thorough cylinder block machining and use a surface roughness tester to ensure precise honing to the correct Ra. Most piston rings we encounter recommend an Ra of 18 - 20, which leads to quicker break-in periods, longer-lasting rings, and improved emissions in our engine block services.

Decking

Cylinder block inspection allows for blocks to be decked, which helps repair damaged areas caused by rust and other imperfections. This process is essential if you desire a factory new finish. Additionally, engine block services often include cylinder block machining to ensure optimal performance.

Cam bearings

Cam bearings are replaced as needed during engine block services, which also include thorough cylinder block inspection and precision cylinder block machining.
